Wisconsin DNR plate features the badger![]()
Apr 7, 2010 — Wisconsin’s new environmental plate was unveiled April 7, 2010 at a ceremony in Green Bay.
It is available to motorists for $40 over normal fees, of which $25 benefits research conducted by the state Department of Natural Resources.
In an October 2009 online poll, the badger design easily beat out three other designs featuring the eastern bluebird, the great blue heron, and the red-headed woodpecker.
The state’s existing environmental plate, featuring the grey wolf, generates $500,000 per year in revenue for the DNR, and remains available.
