Mississippi License Plates

County allocation system. Regular passenger plates are embossed, but rental car series and special issues are flat. Mississippi does not use the alpha character "O" or the numerical combination "666" on plates.

County number and allocation of Passenger plates appears in the "Notes" section. Passenger and standard Truck plates have the county name embossed at the bottom center of plates. Most Special types do not have the county name, but do have a black on white sticker with the county number. The current county numbers are the same that used to appear as part of the registration number through 1973.

For our purposes to list all of the counties, the very first plate number for the county has been entered until we receive a new high.

There are 10 counties in Mississippi that have two county seats. In each of those counties, separate allocations within the county allocation are made to each of the county seats.
